A slow start is showing signs of life

The Weather! The Weather! The Weather!

I don’t have to tell you about the weather. For those of us who cancelled BBQ over Memorial Weekend- the fishing has been dictated by the weather. Cold water, rain, and wind made the start of Sea Bass season and Fluke season 2018 Difficult. We started fishing Cape May Reef with good initial results. Both Throwback and Keeper Sea Bass made for some great drifts. We even found a 18.5″ Keeper Fluke at Cape May Reef in cool 62 degree water. Conditions dictated moving inshore. The inshore fishing was poor except for a couple Bluefish and one very nice Taug which went back.

As our season has progressed, Capt Mike has turned his attention to Delaware Bay. As recently as today, June 5, the Delaware Bay is looking lively. Loads of Bunker, Dolphins, and Birds are all over the Bay. The Drumfish bite is still on-( we did not fish for them this year as we are between vessels, but we will be back on the drum in 2019). The initial report is very positive with snapper blues, weakfish and fluke all being found in Delaware Bay.
